Week 1- Intentional Living
How to prepare for your first week’s session: Decide where you want to have your session and set up your area. We will be doing a gentle flow yoga practice for the first 40 minutes. Grab your mat, yoga props (blocks, yoga strap, bolster, cozy blanket, pillows and anything else you will need for support).
Intentional living & regulating your nervous system
As we approach this new year, it’s important to know that there is no one size fits all or just one approach to healing, resetting and regulating the nervous system. There are many different techniques that you can practice but what is most important is that you make it a priority everyday. To live in harmony with yourself is to follow a daily commitment to resetting yourself and regulating your nervous system. When we are living in fight or flight or fawn and freeze, it’s impossible to live intentionally. The body cannot support our intentions when we are living in those states of survival.
Ways you can reset and regulate daily and multiple times a day this year:
Prioritize sleep/rest/Yoga Nidra
Hydrate with liquids that support you
Cold water therapy. If you are up for the discomfort, try cold plunging or a cold shower
Move your body everyday (yoga, hiking, walking, weight lifting, swimming, dancing, biking, running, jump roping, high intensity workouts, etc.)
Be with nature / get outside
Learn to say NO
Eat foods that love you back! There is a yogic saying “You are what you eat”
Surround yourself with people who uplift you and make you feel safe in their presence
Write and journal your thoughts, intentions, goals, and desires
Do breath practices
Meditate - you can do any meditation that serves you!
Chant Mantra or sing. Chanting or singing stimulates the vagus nerve which once stimulated can help bring us into a state of rest and digest
Take your time. Try not to rush in accomplishing your goals, it’s more powerful to be consistent and move slowly
“Don’t allow the energy of procrastination to create a staleness surrounding your dreams. Breath is a sign of the body living. When you inhale deeply, you are reminded that you are alive and that every moment represents a new possibility.”
Self Inquiry/Journaling (Thank you everyone for sending in your answers to the previous questions!) See the new questions below:
Which of the things listed above do you already commit to? WHY do you commit to those things?
Is there a new practice or habit you’d like to create this year that aligns with how you want to live this year?
Do you have internal thoughts that get in the way of you accomplishing your goals? What inner dialogue comes up for you a lot? Can you change that thought to one that is true and encouraging?
